Anyone interested in studying architecture must be familiar with them. Even those who wish to have their dream house built need to go through this list. That list is the top architecture firms in the United States. 

 

Architectural Record, the 110-year old iconic American magazine that covers anything about architecture and interior design, releases a list of top earners among the architectural community every year. According to Architectural Record, the top earning companies for the year 2012 are as follows:

• 2.    AECOM Technology Corp.
• 3.    Perkins+Will
• 4.    CH2M HILL
• 5.    HDR Architecture Inc.
• 6.    Jacobs
• 7.    HOK
• 8.    URS Corp.
• 9.    HKS Inc.
• 10.    Skidmore Owings & Merrill LLP

M. Arthur Gensler Jr. & Associates, Inc, takes over the top spot from AECOM . A recipient of the Architecture Firm Award in 2000, San Francisco-based Gensler garnered $764 million in revenue in 2011 to overtake AECOM, which could only cough up $445 million. 

 

The people behind the firm credits their global expansion and the more than 3,000 projects, including the 632 meter high Shanghai Tower, they work on each year as the reason why they succeeded in finally being number one. Total revenue of all the firms for the previous year reached $10.4 billion, an increase of $1 billion from the year before that.
