3D Projection on Architecture Review
By : Abd. Mudeffar
UrbanScreen has recently shown its very own 3 dimensional projection using a German building as the medium. Probably the most elaborate, if not the only, 3D projection that most people will ever see, UrbanScreen has taken the theoretic conception and visuals found within the Hamburg Kunsthalle and rendered its own perspective of the famed art museum.
Their rendition shows the breakaway from tradition. The “Galerie der Gegenwart” was depicted as being dissolved and its strict architecture shown to be breaking. The graphics and movement expressed in the projection shows the different interpretations of aesthetics, conception, as well as geometry. This is achieved by using the solid façade of the building and rendering it as permeable.
Reflexivity of the subject subtly brings about a description of the art museum. The constitution and perception of its location is brought to life by using the building itself. Entitled “How it would be, if a house was dreaming”, this extraordinary video shows the many perspectives by which a person can perceive O.M. Ungers’ “Galerie der Gegenwart”. Under the supervision of Art Director Danier Rossa, UrbanScreen is successful in showing just how much the human mind is capable of by the use of 3D imagery.
